Andy started work in 1987, apprenticed to Perry´s Iveco Truck Dealership, attending Aylesbury College of F.E, and by 1993 had passed City and Guilds in Motor Vehicle Studies, a qualified HGV Technician. He spent some time with Adams Recovery Group gaining experience as a Recovery Driver, performing roadside repairs and attending breakdowns and accidents. By 1996 he was back at Perry's as an MOT Tester, as well having had a stint at retailing spare parts.

Simonds Garage Ltd, at Whitchurch was Andy´s introduction to a more personal style, he joined as Senior Technician at this small, long established and family run business to broaden his knowledge of a wider variety of makes of car. He ran the workshop and was involved with all aspects of customer liaison including invoicing and diary. His main roles as a senior technician involved diagnosing and repairing all types of vehicle, MOT testing, and supervising the junior members of the team.

He started his own business in 2000, initially as a mobile technician working on all makes of car and light vans. In 2003, having expanded his customer base AG Automotive Engineers moved to a permanent workshop.

In 2007, one of Andy´s customers, knowing that he held an LGV license, asked if he could help in transporting cars throughout England and Europe on behalf of Ferrari GB. So, taking a sabbatical from running his own business, his "hands-on approach" was soon noticed and towards the end of the 2007 season was approached by Ferrari GB and his rôle changed once again when he was offered a full time position within the team. After Ferrari GB Motorsport Ltd. had won the 2008 Drivers´ championship and the Team´s Dealer cup. Andy had the opportunity of larger premises for AG Autos, so in February 2008 returned to his original business challenge of developing AG Autos.
